We have been working very closely with Florence House in Seaford over the last year, This wedding venue is one of the best we could recommend. The venue is beatiful and the grounds are perfect to have a marquee in, the lawns are flat and allways kept lovely. One of the best features of Florence House is the staff, Steve is one of the easiest people to deal with and nothing being to much of a problem for him. People often ask for different ideas for thier events and we were asked recently by a customer who wanted just that , they wanted to set thier theme as a sailing / surfing feel so we came up with an idea of laying carpet with a sail design in two of the marquees ,we also linked the marquees side by side and put the different colour carpet under the arches, we cut the edges with a wavey patern to look like waves. The marquee was then lit with uplighters using different colour blue and green gels to bring some feeling of calm .

Silver wedding anniversary

last week we had the pleasure of doing a small event for a lovely couple who were celebrating there wedding anniversary. Theirs was one of the smaller wedding venues we have provided for and they had a small 20 x 30 capri marquee which they decorated by themselves. it just goes to show that even people on a budget can make our stunning marquees look amazing.

At west sussex party marquees we have often come across tricky surfaces or uneven ground ,but last year we were set a real challenge ,we were asked to set up capri marquees on sand for a corperate event at yellow wave volleyball courts in brighton . After lots of talk a plan was made and we pressed on to set special anchors below the sand this enabled us to go ahead with their event and has made it possible for them to hold all types of events with our contempory style marquees.

Other marquees we have done this year that were in difficult locations include a private party where we linked a custom made tunnel to the marquee, we joined it from the wall of the house and connected it to the marquee, we also managed to incorperate the customers garden pond to give the framed marquee an amazing wow factor wich gave there guests a real talking point for weeks after .

Marquees are not easy to adapt but we are always open to a challenge one of our many customers even had a tree into his marquee!

Paddle round the pier is an event we have been working for over the last few years, we have been involved closely with the organisers in supplying the new innovative Capri style marquees which suit the whole beach vibe.

This year we are also supplying framed marquees for many of the beach traders.

For the first time this year we are also setting up our smart car for a guess the ball competition where the car is filled with balls and people pay to guess how many ,the first prize is a surf board supplied by Wittering Surf Shop,Wittering Surfshop .

Paddle this year is bigger than ever with lots of events for all the family and best of all its FREE even if you dont surf or even like the water bring your whole family and have a great day. Join in with Paddle Round The Pier this year.

The Saturday was a beautiful day and we had a great turn out raising alot of money for charity, alot of large companies were there displaying thier lastest equipment from Oxbow to Lamination fine finishing the surf board manufacturer.

The Sunday was a different matter, driving rain andd 60mph winds but the marquees did not move and stood up to the weather with ease. Hopefully next year we will have good weather for both days!!!

Toilet hire for marquees and outside events

If you are looking for toilet hire than look no further than First Class Flush.

First Class Flush are a supplier of the best toilets we have come across. They are very helpful and always there when they say they will be.

Toilets can make or break an outside event, and nobody likes to use a toilet that is unclean, with this company that will not be the case.

Things to remember when choosing an outside venue for your wedding or party

Here is a few ideas of things to think about when booking a venue for an outside event where you might need a marquee.

The Ground
When choosing a venue make sure that the ground the Marquee will be erected on is suitable, If you go to see the venue on a dry day make sure you ask if the area is liable to flood. As we all know the British weather is very unpredictable so you do want to be caught out! . The ground will also need to be as level as possible or tables will be on an angle making things tricky.

Power
A must for any marquee especially if you are having a DJ or Band is Electricity, If the venue is unable to provide power a generator is the only option. We have used alot of different generator hire companies and found that HSS Hire is very reasonable and easy to deal with.

Parking
A lot of the time people over look parking, People tend to get carried away looking at the site and forget the parking. Most people will drive to a Wedding reception or Party so you have to think that most cars will have between 2-4 people in it and these cars will have to go some where. It is allways best to find a venue which has either a gravel or tarmac car park so people don’t get stuck if it is a wet day.

Toilets
If you are looking at a venue where the toilets are not included in the package then you will need to provide your guest’s with suitable toilets. For Toilet hire the best in the business is A First Class Flush Please have a look at the website!

Hotels
Don’t forget most of your guest will be drinking so driving isn’t an option, There are planty of Hotels and B&B’s in Sussex so accomodation shouldn’t be a problem. It is best to contact the Hotels near your venue, if you say you are having a wedding near by you should be able to get a deal on rooms for yourself and your guests.

A beautiful location for a spectacular wedding, The castle is magnificent and the grounds are breath taking. Marquees here at the castle fit wondefuly in the moat which runs round the Castle and makes it a beautiful setting for them

Smart car thinking

At WSP Marquees we felt we needed to improve on our carbon emissions so after lots of thought and discussion we decided to take a trip down to see Andy Shipp at Sussex cars.

Andrew was very helpful and we bought a very nice little smart car. This has now allowed us to do our site visits and customer service work without doing as much harm to the environment as when we drove our 4×4s all the time, now we only have one which unfortunately we need to pull our trailers but this is going to be converted to gas soon.
